Equality Objectives
As part of our commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion, The Keys Academy Trust has adopted the following Equality Objectives for 2026-2030. These objectives reflect our duties under the Equality Act 2010 and our commitment to creating an environment in which all pupils, staff, governors, trustees, volunteers and members of our communities are treated fairly, with dignity and respect. The objectives will be reviewed annually and formally refreshed at least every four years.
Objective 1: Increase Equality of Opportunity in Recruitment and Career Development
We will promote equality of opportunity in recruitment, development and progression by monitoring workforce diversity data and reviewing employment practices to identify and address barriers to participation, progression and leadership opportunities.
We will measure success by:
- Reviewing recruitment and workforce diversity information annually.
- Identifying and addressing areas of under-representation where appropriate.
- Monitoring progression and development opportunities across the Trust.
- Reporting progress to Trustees through annual EDI monitoring.
Objective 2: Strengthen Inclusion, Belonging and Respect
We will continue to build a culture where every member of our workforce feels valued, respected, included and able to contribute fully, regardless of their background, identity or personal circumstances.
We will measure success by:
- Monitoring staff perceptions of inclusion, belonging and wellbeing.
- Promoting professional behaviours that reflect dignity, respect and inclusion.
- Responding appropriately to concerns relating to discrimination, harassment or victimisation.
- Using staff feedback to inform continuous improvement.
Objective 3: To remove barriers for employees and applicants through appropriate reasonable adjustments.
We will ensure that disabled employees and applicants are supported through appropriate reasonable adjustments and accessible working practices, enabling them to thrive and contribute fully within our schools and Trust.
We will measure success by:
- Reviewing the effectiveness of reasonable adjustment arrangements.
- Supporting leaders and managers to understand their responsibilities under equality legislation.
- Monitoring feedback from disabled staff and applicants where appropriate.
- Identifying and addressing workplace barriers that may disadvantage disabled colleagues.
Objective 4: Develop Inclusive Leadership and Governance
We will strengthen the knowledge, confidence and accountability of leaders, managers, governors and trustees so that equality, diversity and inclusion are embedded within decision-making, policy development and organisational culture.
We will measure success by:
- Providing regular equality, diversity and inclusion updates and guidance for leaders and governors.
- Reviewing Trust policies and practices through an equality lens.
- Monitoring progress against published equality objectives annually.
- Ensuring equality considerations form part of strategic decision-making across the Trust.
