Head of School - Alder Grove CofE Primary School - Thursday 12th September 2019

Alder Grove Church of England Primary School
Alder Grove, Shinfield, Reading, Berkshire RG2 9RA
Head of School L10 to L16
Required from Summer Term 2020

Alder Grove Church of England Primary School is a new 420-place primary free school in Shinfield, Wokingham, due to open in September 2020 for Nursery and Reception; initially with one class per year group and the aim of growing year on year up to Year 6. As a designated Church of England School you will benefit from the support provided by the Oxford Diocesan Board of Education in establishing a distinct Christian ethos which is welcoming to those of all faiths and none.

We are looking for an exceptional leader to take up this exciting opportunity to lead a brand new primary school within The Keys Academy Trust. The school is already built and offers a blank canvas for the right candidate to shape and develop into an outstanding school within The Keys. It is an amazing site with extensive grounds including playing fields, a garden area, a spacious hall, drama studio and dedicated library and technology area.

The Board of Trustees and Executive Head Teacher are looking to appoint a highly effective and dedicated professional to lead Alder Grove as Head of School from the Summer Term 2020. This will include the recruitment of staff and the development of strategy and policy prior to opening. First and foremost, we are looking for an excellent practitioner who is able to lead and inspire our pupils and staff to establish this new school as a centre of both academic and pastoral excellence at the heart of the new community in Shinfield. This post represents a really exciting opportunity for someone who wishes to develop their leadership skills within a very strong and supportive professional network.

The Keys Academy Trust is a local, primary specialist multi-academy trust comprising eight local primary schools and Alder Grove will become the ninth. We have a Director of Learning within the trust who will support curriculum development, assessment and developing the quality of teaching and learning within your staff team.
Alder Grove has been built to serve a new community and as it will be a small school at its start one of the challenges will be a smaller budget, lower pupil numbers, provision for SEN pupils and mixed-age classes so the successful candidate will understand how to design flexible teaching structures and contracts which maximise educational opportunities and outcomes and be willing to take on part time/cover class teaching if required. This may include looking at ways to share staffing with other schools within the trust. Alder Grove is part of The Keys Academy Trust and is founded with the core values and expectations of pupil behaviours that are upheld in all of our schools.

Working closely with the Executive Head Teacher, you will be responsible for the strategic direction and day to day running of the school. You will have proven experience of Senior Leadership and looking for the next step in your career, with the support and guidance of an experienced Executive Head Teacher. As part of The Keys Academy Trust, you will work with an innovative, exciting group of leaders who put our trust values at the heart of everything we do.
We have open events already planned for prospective parents and we would like the successful candidate to attend these events and teacher interviews before taking up the post in the Summer Term.

Visits are welcomed and arranged by calling Jodie Page, Executive Head Teacher's PA 0118 926 1657/0787 608 2697.

The Keys Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children so you will need to take a disclosure and barring check. We are committed to promoting Equal Opportunities and therefore only applications submitted on TKAT application form will be considered. We do not accept CV only applications.

Please submit your completed application form to CEO@keysacademytrust.org
