Welcome New Trustee - Sue Northend
Nov 13 2025
The Keys Academy Trust is delighted to announce the appointment of Mrs Sue Northend as our ninth trustee, bringing a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to education and governance to the Trust Board.
Sue recently retired from her role as Director of HR at REAch2 Multi Academy Trust, the largest primary-only academy trust in the UK, where she oversaw HR strategy for 62 academies and approximately 3,000 staff. Her leadership and strategic insight were instrumental in shaping talent acquisition, employee engagement, and performance management across the trust.
In addition to her professional achievements, Sue serves as Chair of Governors at Holme Grange School, an independent school in Wokingham. Her governance experience includes setting strategic direction, ensuring financial oversight, and holding school leadership to account for pupil outcomes and staff performance.
Sue is also a Member of REAch2 Academy Trust, where she previously worked, and has played a key role in developing the National HR Network in partnership with the Local Government Association, supporting HR leaders across multi-academy trusts.
Her appointment reflects The Keys Academy Trust’s commitment to strong governance, strategic leadership, and a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities within the education sector. Sue’s passion for good people practices, safeguarding, and inclusive education aligns closely with the Trust’s values.
“I am honoured to join The Keys Academy Trust as a trustee,” said Sue. “Having recently retired, I look forward to directing time and energy to a cause I care deeply about. I believe every child deserves a rich and fulfilling education, and I look forward to supporting the Trust in delivering excellence across its schools.”
Sue’s appointment is subject to the usual safeguarding checks and has been warmly welcomed by the Trust Board and wider school communities.
