TKAT Governance Conference Showcases Collective Commitment to SEND
Oct 7 2026
Trustees, governors, school leaders and central team colleagues from The Keys Academy Trust came together on Tuesday evening for the TKAT Annual Governance Conference, united by a shared commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people across the Trust.
The evening started with an opportunity to reflect on the successes of the past year while exploring some of the most important issues facing education today.
A major focus of the conference was SEND, reflecting our determination to ensure every child can thrive, regardless of their starting point or individual needs. Delegates heard about the Government's proposed SEND reforms, considered the implications for schools and governance, and explored how strong leadership and effective governance can help secure the very best provision for all pupils.
The conference also showcased the TKAT Participate Strategy, which is a new trust-wide SEND strategy. Built on the principle that SEND is everyone's responsibility, the strategy aims to remove barriers to participation, strengthen adaptive teaching and improve outcomes for pupils with SEND. Governors and school leaders worked together to consider their role in supporting and monitoring this important work within their own schools, ensuring that inclusion remains at the heart of school improvement.
Alongside discussions on SEND, delegates were introduced to The Key's Strategic Priorities for 2026-2029. Throughout the evening, collaboration was a recurring theme, with colleagues sharing ideas, experiences and expertise from across the Trust.
The conference was a powerful reminder of the strength that comes from working together. By bringing together representatives from every school, The Keys continues to build a shared understanding of the challenges and opportunities ahead, ensuring that we are stronger together and better placed to unlock future life chances for every child we serve.
