Polehampton Juniors Shine Bright in SIAMS

Polehampton Church of England Junior School has been praised for enabling pupils and adults to flourish, following its recent Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS). The inspection recognised the school's strong Christian vision, inclusive culture and commitment to helping every child "let their light shine". 

The report highlighted how the school's vision, inspired by Jesus' words in Matthew's Gospel, is deeply embedded throughout the school community and influences leadership decisions, relationships and daily practice. Inspectors noted that pupils are "known and loved as unique individuals" and thrive in a nurturing environment where they feel valued and supported.

Among the school's many strengths, inspectors recognised:

• A deeply embedded Christian vision that guides decision-making and enables both pupils and adults to flourish.
• Strong partnerships with The Keys Academy Trust and the Diocese, providing support, challenge and opportunities for continuous improvement.
• An ambitious, inclusive curriculum that allows every child to succeed and develop their individual gifts and talents.
• Meaningful collective worship that supports spiritual development and brings the school community together.
• A strong focus on wellbeing, with carefully planned support and nurturing spaces that help pupils and adults thrive.

The inspection also praised the school's extensive opportunities beyond the classroom. Through trips, clubs, music, sport, art and outdoor learning, pupils are encouraged to discover their strengths and develop as confident, well-rounded individuals. Inspectors noted the school's thoughtful approach to spirituality, creating opportunities for awe, wonder and reflection throughout the curriculum. 

Collective worship was recognised as a particularly valued aspect of school life. Inspectors highlighted the calm, reflective atmosphere and the important role pupils play in leading prayers, evaluating worship and working collaboratively with other schools across the Trust. 

Staff wellbeing was also commended, with inspectors recognising the positive culture created through strong professional development, coaching, mentoring and consideration of workload and flexible working. As a result, relationships across the school community are strong and there is a clear sense of belonging. 

The report further recognised the positive impact of the school's wider community engagement, including charitable projects, sustainability initiatives and opportunities for pupils to take on leadership responsibilities. These experiences help children develop a strong sense of justice, responsibility and compassion for others.
