TKAT Annual Service Celebrates a Decade of Success

The Keys Academy Trust community came together in celebration, reflection and inspiration at this year's Annual Service, held at St Paul's Church, Wokingham. As the Trust begins its special 10th anniversary year, the event marked not only how far we have come together, but also the exciting future we continue to build for every child. The church was filled with pupils from all 13 schools, staff, governors, trustees, families and distinguished guests from across the local community, including The Worshipful the Mayor of Wokingham Borough Cllr Rob Comber and Cllr Steve Clubley for Norreys East (Conservative) Wokingham Town Council, whose presence reflected the importance of the occasion and the strong partnership The Keys enjoys with its local communities, as everyone came together under the theme of "Unlocking the Future". In the autumn sunshine, the service captured everything that makes The Keys Academy Trust so special.

TKAT Governance Conference Showcases Collective Commitment to SEND

Trustees, governors, school leaders and central team colleagues from The Keys Academy Trust came together on Tuesday evening for the TKAT Annual Governance Conference, united by a shared commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people across the Trust. The evening started with an opportunity to reflect on the successes of the past year while exploring some of the most important issues facing education today. A major focus of the conference was SEND, reflecting our determination to ensure every child can thrive, regardless of their starting point or individual needs. Delegates heard about the Government's proposed SEND reforms, considered the implications for schools and governance, and explored how strong leadership and effective governance can help secure the very best provision for all pupils.

St Michael's Celebrates Positive Ofsted Outcome

The Keys Academy Trust is delighted to celebrate the successful Ofsted inspection outcome for St Michael’s Church of England Primary School, Sandhurst, following its inspection on 15 September 2026. Inspectors found the school to be meeting the expected standard across all areas, with Early Years recognised as a particular strength, achieving the higher "Strong Standard" judgement. The inspection highlighted the school's welcoming culture, strong educational foundations and commitment to ensuring every child can flourish. Ofsted recognised that children in Reception "get off to a very positive start in this school" and praised the highly effective curriculum and ambitious expectations that help children become "very well prepared for their next stage in education." Inspectors also identified several strengths that reflect the school's commitment to providing an excellent education.

Two surveys, commissioned by BMW Group UK, questioned 2,500 UK parents in total, comparing the experiences of parents raising children today with those whose children have already reached early adulthood. Among 2,000 parents who have already begun considering their child’s future working life, nearly six in ten (58%) started during the primary-school years, between ages four and 11. Ages four to six, when children are at the start of their educational journey in Reception and Year 1, was the single most commonly selected age band, chosen by three in ten (30%).

What makes this achievement even more significant is that this was Alder Grove's first SIAMS inspection. To be singled out in a national report that draws upon inspection evidence from across Church of England schools nationwide is a remarkable accomplishment and reflects the dedication of pupils, staff, governors and the wider school community. In the SIAMS Annual Report 2025-2026 Alder Grove was specifically identified as an example of excellence within the section examining how Christian vision enables "belonging and becoming" .

The Keys Academy Trust is delighted to announce the appointment of Mrs Jessica Lewis as the new Headteacher at Earley St Peter’s C of E Primary School from 1 September 2026. Mrs Lewis brings a wealth of educational experience and a proven track record of school leadership, having dedicated almost 30 years to education and more than 18 years to senior leadership roles. For the past decade, she has served as Headteacher of Stephen Freeman Primary School in Oxfordshire, where she has successfully led significant school improvement, strategic growth and academisation. Throughout her career, Mrs Lewis has demonstrated a strong commitment to ensuring every child receives the highest quality education within a nurturing and inclusive environment.

The inspection recognised the school's strong Christian vision, inclusive culture and commitment to helping every child "let their light shine". Mr Lappin joins St Cecilia’s from Burghfield St Mary’s Church of England Primary School, where he has served as Deputy Headteacher. During his time there, he has played a significant role in curriculum innovation, staff development and whole‑school improvement. His leadership experience spans EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, giving him a well‑rounded understanding of primary education and the needs of pupils across all phases.
