Vision and Values Day
Dec 5 2025
Last week, the whole of St Nicholas CE Primary School came together for their annual Vision and Values Day, celebrating the principles that are at the heart of everything they do at St Nicholas: ‘laying firm foundations to believe and achieve’ through their shared values of Respect, Honesty, Courage and Kindness.
The day began with a whole-school project to create a communal display in the reception area. Every child contributed to this artwork, writing their thoughts about “laying firm foundations” on rocks, symbolising the strength and stability that comes from living by the shared values.
Learning was enriched through the Bible story of ‘The House on the Rock’ and brought to life through drama, music and art. Children explored and reflected on what it means to build on solid ground, rather than on shaky foundations. Thoughtful writing captured how decisions based on honesty, respect and courage lead to lasting success, while those lacking these can crumble under pressure.
Creativity flowed throughout the day as every class contributed to a collective artwork celebrating individuality within our community. Each child designed a unique piece that, when combined, formed a vibrant whole - an image of unity and belonging. This artwork reminds everyone that while we are all different, together we create something extraordinary in our St Nicholas Family.
Another highlight was the creation of Shields of Trust. Children explored how kindness, respect and honesty act as pillars of trust, protecting relationships and fostering a safe, supportive environment. The shields are daily reminders of the values they uphold.
Vision and Values Day was a celebration of who St Nicholas are and what they aspire to be. By embedding these principles into every aspect of school life, they are truly laying firm foundations for every child to believe in themselves and achieve their best.
Together, we are shaping a community where values are lived, not just spoken.
